November 2025 astrology begins with Mercury slowing down in its shadow. It’s in the early degrees of Sagittarius, out ahead of the Scorpio Sun. This initial deceleration–as Mercury crawls along, stations retrograde, and sluggishly backs up—is generally the bottleneck. It’ll affect us from now through November 15, until Mercury picks up speed in retrograde motion and eventually backs up into Scorpio to clean up loose ends.

A timeline of Mercury's retrograde. Mercury enters its shadow October 21, then stations retrograde November 9. Mercury stations direct November 29 and exits its shadow December 16.

That means Mercury is lacking momentum during the first half of the month. The wires are getting overloaded. Mercury governs observation– seeing, thinking, and speaking. In Sagittarius, those functions are driven by enthusiasm, passionate conviction, and impulse. Sagittarius is dissatisfied and restless– it’s the sign of the seeker, on the endless quest.

Mercury in Sagittarius is in a rush to figure out a better solution, to become free to fly. This retrograde will stir up major questions about our plans for the future and the convictions and assumptions that are guiding our choices. Be aware of the tendency to “explain away” with generalities and justifications. Retrogrades are useful and can save us from our own blindness.

The Jupiter-Saturn Trine

This is happening amidst the backdrop of an extremely waterlogged cosmos—a swirling storm flooding the collective consciousness. Jupiter and Saturn, symbols of growth and limitation, are stalling out in their transits of water signs. Jupiter is about to go retrograde in Cancer, and Saturn is about to go direct in Pisces. They both remain stuck in place throughout November’s astrology, leaning into one another in a 120-degree trine.

It’s hard to escape the flow of a water trine. The subjective world is powerful. Moods create realities. The Jupiter/Saturn trine, stuck in place around 25 degrees Cancer and Pisces, has us saturated in introspection. It’s stirring waves that are sometimes therapeutic and inspired, sometimes vaguely neurotic and lost.

Under the Waxing Moon

Saturday, November 1 begins under the Pisces Moon. It’s in waxing gibbous phase, and it will hit the north node at 12:43 pm EDT. Subtle sensations can affect us when the Moon transits Pisces. Like the ocean, Pisces fluctuates. The mood is mysterious and irrational. Boundaries are dissolved and physical resistance is weakened, so be mindful of what you’re absorbing.

Sunday, Nov 2 (Daylight Savings Time Ends. All times below are EST)

Venus opposes Chiron and squares Jupiter.
The Pisces Moon conjoins Neptune, and then enters Aries at 10:39 a.m.

Sunday morning begins with a desire to escape reality. There may be some lingering hurt feelings about self-sacrifice or being taken for granted. But when the Moon enters Aries, the fog of passivity burns off. A 135-degree angle between the Sun and Saturn warns of trying to use dominance or manipulation to exert control.

Mars enters Sagittarius early on Tuesday, Nov 4. It then moves into an opposition with Uranus at 12:30 pm. Uranus is retrograde at 0 degrees Gemini, right on the cusp. The fight against oppression is strong today. Mars is defending freedom of thought and belief. This aspect reflects agitation, as if tension is coming to a boiling point. Pent up needs break through. Get ahead of resistance by being honest about what you want in the first place.

The Taurus Full Moon

The Taurus Full Moon is exact at 8:19 am on Wednesday, Nov 5. It’s largely unaspected by other planets, which can feel a bit isolating and unnerving. Taurus is an earthy sign that strives for security, but sometimes the astrological bull can get too bogged down in the realm of the material. That exaggerates fears about having enough. This is a good Moon to examine personal values and prioritize what really matters.

Thursday, November 6, 2025

The planetary glyphs depicting Mars sextile Pluto, the Moon entering Gemini and conjoining Uranus, and the Moon opposing Mars and Mercury.

Thursday energizes excitement for change. The Moon liberates itself from something early on, and that gets people moving and talking. There’s an electrically charged, rapid pace to the day. This is the last time the Moon will meet Uranus in Gemini because Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus on Friday, Nov 7, where it will stay until next spring.

At this point in 2025, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus are all in their former signs. They are revisiting places in our natal charts where they’ve been before, symbolizing unfinished work in those areas of our lives. It’s an opportunity to find closure and to improve the foundation for new beginnings in 2026. Retrograde Pressure

Mercury stations retrograde at 6 degrees Sagittarius on Sunday afternoon, Nov 9. Travel, movement, and communication are weird. Generally, when Mercury is stationing, our attention is pulled in a lot of directions at once. Things seem to go haywire because it’s impossible to take in all the data. Mercury is so eager to get to the destination in Sagittarius that it misses warning signs along the way.

The same graphic showing the timeline of Mercury retrograde from November 2025 Astrology.

The Cancer Moon moves through the water trine on Monday morning, Nov 10, increasing receptivity and moodiness. Jupiter stations retrograde on Tuesday, Nov 11, heightening issues of protection and caretaking early in the week. Planets are always louder when turning around in direction. Jupiter in Cancer expands safety concerns. Stress about providing for family is strong.

Mercury (now retrograde) backs up into a conjunction with Mars in Sagittarius on Wednesday night, Nov 12. It’s argumentative and opinionated, and unlikely to get us where we want to go. Meanwhile, the Virgo Moon moves into a square with Mercury/Mars, exact on Thursday, Nov 13. Virgo can be too critical, putting unnecessary blame and shame on mistakes. Sagittarius can be too careless, causing irresponsibility and immaturity. The week finishes with the Moon’s conjunction to the south node at 1:38 am Friday and opposition to Saturn at 7:30 that night. Problems cause distance between people.

Entering the Scorpio Zone

A watery week begins. The Scorpio Sun enters the trine with Jupiter and Saturn in the pre-dawn hours of Monday, Nov 17. The Moon, in its waning phase, enters Scorpio at 4:44 pm. And lastly, Mercury retrogrades back into Scorpio on Tuesday night, Nov 18. Planets in Scorpio are focused on transformation– getting to the roots deep within to create change from the inside out.

Thinking becomes acutely perceptive. The mindset is more analytical and shrewd, and suspicious of lies and deception. The Sun conjoins Black Moon Lilith at 10:20 pm Tuesday night. Instinctive vulnerability issues create storms in relationships. Mercury immediately opposes Uranus and trines Neptune early Wednesday morning, Nov 19.

Thursday, November 20, 2025

The planetary symbols depicting the Moon, Sun, and Mercury in conjunction, and Uranus sextile Neptune.

Mercury backs up to join the New Moon in Scorpio Thursday morning, symbolizing the seed of a new idea. It’s the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde, and the beginning of a new chapter. Information cannot be ignored when Mercury is in the glare of the Sun, but it’s difficult to grasp the full meaning just yet.

The Sun opposes Uranus and trines Neptune before crossing over the border into Sagittarius at 8:36 pm on Friday, Nov 21. There’s a powerful standoff between freedom and suppression playing out in the world today. The cusp between Scorpio and Sagittarius is wild and uncontainable. It’s where the full throttle intensity of the scorpion morphs into the high-flying archer, flinging itself into the adventure of life. Energy cannot be held back.

Mercury returns to the water trine with Jupiter and Saturn on Saturday, Nov 22. This happened before– back on October 24-25. Again, there’s an introspective pull to this water trine as information is rehashed. We’re drawn back to old material to get a clearer understanding of the truth.

Closing out November 2025 Astrology

November’s astrology draws to a close with Mercury’s second big slowdown. This time Mercury is in Scorpio, coming to the end of its retrograde to clean up those loose ends that I mentioned at the beginning. Mercury is sluggish from November 24 until December 7. During this period, it hovers between 20-24 degrees Scorpio. It’s the same place in the zodiac that was first activated back on October 21-25, when Mercury first entered its shadow.

Mercury in Scorpio delves deep into the underlying motivations behind people’s actions, trying to root out problems that were avoided before. As Mercury slows, Venus comes up to form a conjunction, exact on Monday, Nov 24. Secrets and results are coming to the surface. This is a creative time for problem-solving, negotiating, and collaborating.

Thursday, November 27 Thanksgiving Day

The Moon enters Pisces at 2:24 pm on Nov 27, heading toward first quarter phase. But the big news on Thursday is that Saturn is turning direct at 10:52 pm. Seriousness of purpose colors the holiday weekend. It’s related to responsibility and accountability. Then the Moon conjoins Saturn at 11:42 am on Saturday, Nov 29, while Mercury stations direct at 12:38 pm. Saturn rules the structures of life, and Mercury rules the mind. Situations get back on track as they both move forward again.
